The challenges of the NOW Economy
by Luisa Mich
Web technologies have dramatically changed information systems and business organizations. The Internet is the foundation for new business models and new business and management processes. Time and competition pressure and increasing quality demands are leading from the new economy to the so-called now economy based on 7-days-per-week, 24-hours-per-day online services.
In this context, Web sites and Web Applications play a strategic role, and Web Engineers have to become aware of their responsibility: the success or failure of a Web application is sometimes the success or failure of the organization.
My first lecture will address these topics in order to establish the general context for a goal-driven Web site development. The second lecture will illustrate some issues that characterise Web application requirements. For both the lectures, students will be presented with real-life projects.
Part 1 - The strategic role of Web applications
Part 2 - Web application requirements: quality models and creativity sessions as requirements identification techniques |
