Students need to be familiar with:

• programming in Java
• the concept of design patterns
• object oriented modelling (e.g. UML)
• accessing Databases from program code (i.e. JDBC)
• basic networking and basic notions TCP-IP
• working with the command-line (concepts of Path, Classpath, ability to excute commands from a shell as opposed to using GUI)
