Here is the current version of LODE_Presenter for Mac OsX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and 10.7 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion).

Click on the icon to download, then unzip and read the ReadMe.

This version (1.37(.04) JCQ P) was created on October 11, 2013.

For Windows, try this: LODE_4_Windows. After downloading, unzip it, open the folder and click on run.bat to start Lode. It has been tested with Windows 7 and Java 7, it might work with other versions of Windows but we did not have yet the opportunity to test it in these other environments. It os known to have some problems with Internet Explorer, but it works well with Firefox and Chrome.

OLDER VERSIONS

Here is the a previous version of LODE for Mac OsX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and 10.7 (Lion).

Click on the icon to download, then unzip and read the ReadMe.

This version (1.30(.01)JCQ) was created on April 20, 2012.

On Mac Os-X 10.5 ( Leopard) you can try using a version that was compiled on purpose for that version of the OS. You can get it here. Please note that it will only work if you have an updated version of the system (10.5.8 or more recent are reccomended), and if Java 6 is enabled (you can check it by using the Java Preferences in Applications/Utilities).

LODE 1.25JCQ - 1.30JCQ does NOT work on older versions of the OS (you need version 1.0 for that)

We have a list of other features we'd like to add, so we're
progressively releasing new versions with minor enhancements.

If you use it, please let us know. We'd like to have your comments, or feedbacks: it would help us make it better!

LODE 1.25 - 1.30 uses Java 6, QuickTime , but all this should be standard for all recent Macs. It has been developed and tested on Intel Macs running MacOS X 10.6 and 10.7, QuickTime {10} and ffmpegX {0.9 x | 0.9 y}. A special version runs on MacOS X 10.5.5 or later.
For older versions of MacOsX, you can use version 1.0k2 (reccomended for MacOS X 10.4, 10.5.1...10.5.4 ) or one of the older versions available from the section"Version log" below.
LODE 1.0 was based on Java 4 and QuickTime for Java library (/System/Library/Java/Extensions/QTjava.zip). It has been developed and tested on Intel Macs running MacOS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6, QuickTime {7.4.5 - 10} and ffmpegX {0.9 x | 0.9 y}.

Download LODE for Mac > HOW TO USE

LODE acquires a video, allows creating markups on the acquired video (adding images to certain times of the video itself), and postprocess the acquired video generating a compressed, annotated Flash video embedded in a web page. The resulting product can be viewed on any web browser having a Flash plug-in (on any platform: Windows, Linux, Mac etc.).

To use LODE you need to have a video source connected. The program searches a DV input - so you should have a Videocamera connected to the Firewire port of your machine. If it does not find a DV input, LODE searches for alternate video sources, such as an external or internal ISight.

You need disk space! Capturing an hours of video can take between 400 and 800 Mb - after postprocessing the same video is compressed to approx. 100-120 MB.

Remove the “_LODE” folder from your home directory (warning: this folder contains the lectures you captured - make sure you copy them elsewhere if you still need them before removing the foder!)

Make sure that your startup disk has no spaces or special characters in its name.
Move any older version of LODE to the trash.

You need to have ffmpegX installed, with its components in place (mencoder, mplayer, mpeg2enc, flv2tool) – See http://ffmpegX.com/download
To use its web site publishing feature (on LODE 1.25 and above) you must also install VLC - See http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

STEP 1. Open the .dmg disk image and copy the LODE application to your Applications folder.
STEP 2. Run LODE from your Applications folder.

On Windows, Linux amd Macintosh the final user only needs to have a standard web browser with a Flash plugin. Most browsers automatically download and install the Flash plug-in in case it is not available: therefore a typical user does not need to do anything special to use Lode.

To create an event (i.e. to record a lecture) an acquisition station is needed: the current version of LODE needs an Intel Mac with a firewire port (typically but not necessariy a laptop), a videocamera and a radiomicrophone. The LODE software can be obtained for free from this site. The installation is very simple (dmg file on mac, so simply drag and drop).

To distribute events any web server is fine.
